New Material, New Environment

Since the rise of Cartesian dualism, material has been considered as a shell covering the non-material, or the meaning. Material itself couldn’t claim to be on its own, as it only serves for something that emanates from material. New Materialism allows new way of interpreting the material. Following Spinozist materialism, which directly contrast Cartesian dualism, new materialism argues that only material and its arrangement constructs everything. In that sense there is no hierarchy in beings. Human or non-human, they are all material, but in different arrangement. Arrangement is another term for environment. Environment, which arranges the material, defines everything. Such way of thinking let us see new way of thinking environment. We are living in an era where the ontology of non-human beings like animals or forest matter. New materialism is the upcoming idea to be the fundamental philosophical argument for such ontology.
